1. The short version
This site sets one cookie without asking, because it is the cookie that remembers what you decided about the others. Nothing else is set unless you turn it on.
2. What a cookie is here
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This policy also covers anything equivalent that stores or reads information on your device, such as local storage, because § 89(3) of the Czech Electronic Communications Act and the ePrivacy Directive treat them the same way.
3. Categories
Strictly necessary
Required for the site to work and to honour your choices. These do not need consent, and cannot be switched off.
Preferences
Remember choices you make, such as the display language, so you do not have to set them again. Optional.
Analytics
Aggregate statistics about which pages are read, so we can write better ones. Optional, and off until you say otherwise. No analytics cookie is currently set.
We do use a cookieless measurement tool, Cloudflare Web Analytics, described in section 5. It stores nothing on your device, so it is not a cookie and is not covered by the switches above.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not embed third-party marketing pixels.
4. The cookies themselves
| Name | Category | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| zb_consent | Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie choices, the version of the notice, and the date, so you are not asked on every page | 6 months |
| __cf_bm, cf_clearance and similar | Strictly necessary | Set by Cloudflare, which serves and protects this site, to tell automated traffic apart from people and to remember that a security challenge has been passed. They carry no advertising identifier and are not used to profile you. Cloudflare classifies them as strictly necessary | __cf_bm expires after 30 minutes of inactivity; the others are short-lived |
| — | Preferences | Reserved. No preference cookie is currently set. The language you are reading is carried in the address of the page, not in a cookie. If a preference cookie is introduced, it will be listed here before it is used | — |
| — | Analytics | Reserved. No analytics cookie is currently set. Our measurement tool is cookieless and is described in section 5. If a cookie-based analytics provider is ever introduced, it will be listed here before it is switched on | — |
5. Measurement without cookies
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It is worth explaining why it is not in the table above and why there is no switch for it.
The tool writes nothing to your device — no cookie, no local storage, no identifier of any kind — and it does not follow you between websites. For each page view it records the page address, the referring page, and coarse information derived from your request such as country, browser and device type. Your IP address is used momentarily to derive those, and Cloudflare does not retain it in the analytics data.
Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, the consent rule in section 4 of the ePrivacy Directive, transposed in the Czech Republic by Act No. 127/2005 Coll. on Electronic Communications, does not apply, and no cookie banner switch is required. The processing that remains rests on our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR in understanding whether the pages we publish are read. The data is aggregate and does not identify you. You can object at any time by writing to us using the contact details in the privacy policy.
Cloudflare acts as our processor for this, under Art. 28 GDPR and its data processing addendum. If you would rather not be counted at all, any standard tracker blocker will stop the script, and the site works exactly as before.
6. Changing or withdrawing consent
Open at any time, from here or from the foot of any page, and change any switch. Withdrawing is exactly as easy as consenting. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings, which will reset your choice and cause the notice to appear again.
7. Server logs are not cookies
Our hosting infrastructure records technical log data for every request, including your IP address. That happens at the network level, it is not a cookie, and it is not something consent can switch off, because a server cannot answer a request without an address to answer to. It is described in section 2 of the privacy policy.
8. Links to other websites
Where a page links out to another organisation, that link sets no cookie and sends them nothing until you click it. Nothing on this site is embedded from a third party, so no outside service can read or write cookies on your visit here.
Once you follow a link you are on a site we do not run, under its own cookie policy, and we are not responsible for what it sets.
