What Mentorship Teaches Us About Building ZERO.BIM in Czechia

16 Sept 2026·5 min read·Ajayraj Ramaswami

At ZERO.BIM, most of our conversations are about technology, projects, and the problems our clients need solved. But the way a company grows, and the way it earns the trust of the people it works with, is shaped just as much by what it learns along the way and who it learns from.

Recently, our team attended the 2nd Samvay Circle Meet at the Embassy of India in Prague. The evening gave us a chance to step back and reflect on how we are building our company here, and what kind of partner we want to be.

Why We Were There

Samvay is a mentorship initiative of the Embassy of India in Prague that connects Indian students, entrepreneurs, and professionals in Czechia with experienced members of the community. More than 50 mentees have been supported so far.

As a young company growing in Czechia, we know first-hand how much there is to learn: understanding a new market, building relationships from the ground up, and making important decisions with limited information. Being part of communities like Samvay is one of the ways we make sure we don't learn those lessons alone, or learn them too late.

Three Lessons We're Taking Back to Our Work

Ask the right questions early

Listening to mentees describe their experiences, one theme kept returning: the right guidance at the right moment changes the outcome. We see the same thing in our own work. Projects succeed when uncertainties are raised and discussed at the start, not discovered halfway through. That is why we put so much emphasis on understanding a client's situation clearly before proposing solutions.

Experience is worth seeking out

The fireside conversation with restaurateur and philanthropist Sanjiv Suri was an honest look at what building something lasting really involves: persistence, setbacks, and the willingness to keep learning. It reinforced something we believe as a team. We don't pretend to have every answer, and we actively seek perspectives from people who have walked the path before us. Our clients benefit from that humility, because it leads to better-informed decisions.

Local roots build real understanding

Knowing a market isn't only about research. It comes from relationships and from being present in the communities where you operate. Our involvement in initiatives like Samvay helps us understand the environment our clients and partners work in, and reflects our long-term commitment to Czechia.

Connect, Guide, Support, Give Back

During the evening, Ambassador Raveesh Kumar spoke about the importance of supporting people through the different stages of their journey, and Samvay Coordinator V. Subramaniam Subbu shared how the programme plans to reach more people in the future.

Samvay's guiding principle is simple: connect, guide, support, and give back. It closely reflects how we aim to work at ZERO.BIM. We want to connect with clients as genuine partners, guide them through complex decisions with clarity, support them beyond the delivery of a single project, and, as we grow, give back by sharing our own experience with those just starting out.

Building Trust Takes Time

Trust isn't built through one project or one conversation. It grows through consistency, openness, and a real commitment to the people and places you work with. Evenings like this remind us that ZERO.BIM is not being built in isolation, but alongside a community that values learning and mutual support.

We're grateful to the Embassy of India in Prague, the Samvay team, the mentors, speakers, and everyone who took part. We look forward to contributing to this community as it continues to grow, and to carrying these lessons into every partnership we build.
